An update to the proof of concept and initial schematic shown in part 1

A few tweaks to the original schematic

There were one or two serious issues with the schematics posted in part 1. This schematic is confirmed to be working and improves on most of the aspects of version 1.0

Changes made to the original schematic shown in part 1

  1. U1B is now actually correctly oriented. It was mirrored horizontally in Version 1.0 and as a result the tone stack did not work

  2. The LED and LDR are replaced with pads so that they can be placed on a PCB more easily

  3. The values of C10, C11, R7 and R12 have been changed to add some gain to the output stage. I found it to be too quiet with the original values.

How does it sound and what do I think of it?

This is a playthrough of a wide range of the sounds that can be produced by the D.I.S.T.O.R. showing the versatility of the pedal. I have found it to sit well in a mix but unfortunately don't have the capacity to record that at present. I am pleased with the range of tones available but would be happier if the tone control had a wider range. This should be an easy fix by changing the value of the tone pot but I unfortunately did not have anything other than a 100KB on hand. The Bias control offers a wide control range but towards the extremes of the control in either direction there are points where the signal will be completely lost. Stoppers on each side of the bias pot would prevent this. I do not find it that difficult to work around so have not included them.
